Community Garden
18th June 2010
A new community garden is soon to be created at the rear of EDDTs office.
Funding has been sourced and work will hopefully start in the next couple weeks
UPDATE (2nd.March 2011)
The garden is now complete and was officially opened by Ben Parkinson and Harold Cockayne. On the same day David and Andrea Maughan planted a tree in memory of their son Liam who was tragically killed in Afghanistan. The final piece of the garden furniture for our Community Garden has now been put in place. A beautiful hand-crafted wooden bench now circles the memorial tree, which was dedicated to Liam Maughan at the official opening of the garden last September. The bench was donated by HM Prison Lindholme, being constructed by the inmates and staff, by kind permission of the Governor Mr Bob Mullen. Our thanks go to Governor Mullen, and to all the people who worked so hard to produce the bench. It will be much appreciated by all who pause to rest and enjoy the community garden. The garden has been visited by a number of people who have spent a little time in quiet reflection.
